Chris & Damon Brown
The Artists...
Chris and Damon Brown are lifetime residents of the Eugene/Springfield
Oregon community.  Married in 1984, they are raising three teenage
children.
Chris has always had a flare for artistic creation.  From ceramic dolls to
wall murals and painted ceramic bowls, made as gifts for family and
friends, and their own personal enjoyment, their home interior is in an
almost constant state of change!

Chris learned the basis for mosaic work, installing tile flooring and
counter tops as a way to save money during the construction of their
new home. She carries that experience into the world of art; Adding
jewelry, gems, beads and mementos; even small car and cycle parts to
glass mosaic mirrors, to create truly unique and useful works.
We love to hunt for misplaced and over-looked treasures, sometimes antique artifacts of the past, but more likely
trinkets that seem destined for the landfill, objects that have a unique, artistic form that goes beyond that of their
intended purpose and usefulness; sometimes it’s the simple things that catch our eye, hold our curiosity and
inspire us towards a new creation of Mosaic Mirror Art.

Our style ranges from theme based collections to random abstract patterns.  We begin either with a theme in mind,
and look for objects that fit that vision, or we’ll come across something that sparks a new idea, a new expression.

One piece might be tools, hardware, gears; Iron & steel representing strength, longevity, and progress.  They have
a certain allure whether they are shiny chrome or old and rusty, in a mosaic contrast with jewelry, gems, beads,
mementos and stained glass; representing the fragile nature of form and beauty.

Another may be random patterns of color, texture & reflection.  Balance and Contrast; a form that sparkles with
beauty from a distance and draws you in and holds your curiosity, perhaps it’s a word or phrase, a text expression
from an old magazine or other print materials, captured in decoupage under glass.

Memory mirrors, those custom made with mementos from your own past and present, allow us to create a one of a
kind work to display your little treasures in a useful art form where they can be seen and enjoyed.

We’ve taught ourselves how to work the grout with such diverse shapes and sizes not normally incorporated in
mosaic art.  If there were rules in mosaics, we’ve already broke them.  The only borders are those of the shapes
we begin with.

When you see our work we hope it reflects a wild and whimsical side of you, and that you’ll appreciate its
uniqueness, which arises from our personal inspiration and imagination.
We were ready to do something different and the mosaics seemed to develop out of nowhere…as if it
were meant to be.  They fill us with a sense of pride, expression and creativity we never realized before.
Our art allows us to continue to work together.  We feed off each other for inspiration.
It’s fun and always different!

From high school sweet-hearts to partners in marriage, family, business and now art!
Copper & Tack Border
Under Chris’s guidance, Damon started making a mosaic mirror as a way to spend more time with his wife, and
relax during the sale of their carpet cleaning business of 22 years, and is now totally hooked.
